Scam Alert!

There seems to be a new scam around – someone, pretending to be a US soldier stationed in Japan is selling cars online telling customers to buy LR and to pay him to a “google checkout LR account”. Please be careful, this is definitely a scam! Google checkout operates on Google only. It does not use Liberty Reserve. Liberty Reserve is a private anonymous payment system based in Costa Rica. There is no way a US company like Google would use Liberty Reserve!

Due to the nature of LR being a virtually anonymous and non-reversible system, once the payment is made to someone’s LR account it becomes untraceable to the outside world and non-reversible. That is why scammers like to receive payments into LR. There is definitely no “Google Checkout” at LR! Please beware this and similar scams.
